never say never.

after saying in an interview that they love being independent because they don’t have bosses, jack mccollough and lazaro hernandez of proenza schouler agreed to sell 45% of their company to the valentino group (who not too long ago was partially bought out by private equity firm premira).

in addition to the cash influx, the business will have access to factories and distribution and will be able to cast a much wider net. part of that is expanding into other areas beyond womenswear. they recently presented their first resort collection, and an eyewear collection will launch soon. then they’re looking to develop shoes and handbags, such an important part of building a design house.

after their supersuccessful line for target and their recent tie for cfda womenswear designer of the year (with oscar de la renta), things are really moving along for the duo.
