when will the merry-go-round stop?

Uncategorized

rumours are swirling that alessandra facchinetti may be out at valentino and giambattista valli is in. a “well placed insider” has said that alessandra “paves the way for Valentino’s successor to ‘save’ the iconic house.” what the heck does that mean, “save the house?” i wasn’t aware the house needed saving. alessandra’s fall/winter show was solid, but her couture collection was stellar, paying homage to the house is a very sophisticated yet modern way and introducing some new traditions (like ballet flats with ball gowns). it seems unfair that after three seasons (her first collection for the house was pre-fall) she’d be given the boot…but then again, john galliano and nicolas ghesquiere had to deal with similar rumours early on in their tenures. valentino himself didn’t originally want facchinetti for the job, which could have something to do with her early dismissal.

so what’s a girl to do? hopefully knock it out of the park on thursday.
