singular sensation.

in the age of stylists, most celebrities are dressing more monotonously than ever. you’d think with all the choices out there, more starlets would have some individuality in their choices. not so. gwyneth paltrow rocked the mini on the iron man press tour, while charlize walked the link between femme and femme fatale promoting hancock. then anne hathaway showed off a young, fresh style schilling for get smart (too bad the movie didn’t live up to the hype). now maggie gyllenhall has been making the rounds promoting the dark knight, and she’s been turning up in looks as varied as a floral print dries van noten gown, lanvin asymetrical LBD, a stella mccartney jumpsuit and orange gaultier lace (not to mention a gorgeous black and blue zac posen number).

some, including new york mag, found fault with maggie’s choices, which they deemed “schizophrenic.” i say original, inventive, and quirky, much like her choices in movie roles. thank goodness for women like maggie (and tilda swinton, unashamed to wear velvet lanvin to the oscars), who aren’t afraid to step out on fashion’s ledge (i mean, could you see anyone else except maybe kate moss in orange lace?) and do it stunningly.
