wear anywhere: the jean jacket.

Uncategorized wear anywhere

jeans can go from bootcut to skinny to jegging to flare, but the one jean that’s always in style is the jean jacket. the first one, the 506, was produced around 1906 by levi’s and had a single pocket and buckle back. the more ubiquitous double pocket version, the 557, was introduced in 1962. today jean jackets aren’t just for workers or casual wear, as evidenced by jenna lyons donning one to last year’s met gala. i love the idea of wearing one almost like a shirt, buttoned up over a great skirt or dress, layering it under another longer coat, or doing a new version of a “twin set” by matching a denim jacket to a chambray shirt.

right now i have one jean jacket in deep indigo, but i’m thinking of adding a lighter, more distressed version. here are some of my faves…how do you love to style a jean jacket?
