a look from peter som’s f/w 07.08 collection
bill blass announced not one, but two new creative directors today. peter som will be taking over the womenswear reins from michael vollbracht and recent cfda/fashion fund nominee michael bastian was named menswear creative director, the first mens cd since the namesake designer left the house. som is no stranger to blass, having worked closely with the designer in the mid-nineties. his first collection is expected to bow prefall 2008.
bastian worked as bergdorf goodman’s mens director before striking out on his own in 2006. he was nominated last year for cfda emerging menswear of the year talent. the relaunched menswear line will debut in with the fall 2008 collection. both designers will keep designing their own collections. this is som’s case should be interesting because i thought his stuff always looked like bill blass (at least under lars nilsson)
