back in january, the 3.1 phillip lim pre-fall collection was one of my favorites: the looks, which were inspired by lim’s fascination with comics, featured items where the influence went from the subtle (where pieces transform from one item to another) to the more overt (like graphic “kapow” sweaters and accessories). these pieces, based around the layouts of comics, were among the ones that instantly called out to me—pewter sequins that not just recalls comics, but also circuits or a more futuristic look at the body, especially when worn as chiffon pants. kapow indeed.
