a few weeks ago, i went to the marc jacobs store in san francisco, and when i left and looked across the street, the helmut lang store was empty. i hadn’t read anything about it closing…heck, it hadn’t even been there that long. imagine my surprise today when walking down the same alley (which will soon be home to john varvatos) i see theory above the door and on the street flag. makes sense, as link theory, the company that owns lang also owns theory. i, for one, am glad because i love theory, and you have to go to all the department stores in the city to find their collections (with each store having some different pieces.) hopefully the store will have a great selection of shoes, bags and menswear.
