leave it to the master of american fashion to take all the trends we’ve seen so far at new york fashion week and wrap them up in one, cohesive show. harem pants? yep, in silk or sequins. jumpsuits? of course, in an elegant ysl le smoking kind of way. shine? on just about every look, either in the fabrics or the accessories (gold trimmed platforms, gilded scarves and headwraps). this collection was the kind of easy elegance you expect from lauren, and it’s never more timely than now. i loved the bronze leather bomber jacket, metallic camp shirts, belted trenches, the variations on the LBD, and bias cut silk charmeuse gowns. lauren’s collection showed that in an industry where youth is valued, it’s a legend that rises to the top.
