s/s 2009 new york: derek lam.

collections Uncategorized

san francisco native derek lam’s spring collection was a study in restraint. the color palette was restricted to sand, white, black and bronze, along with a metallic tonal plaid and gold-tinged pants and tank dress. the pieces were generally loose and easy: cinch waist anoraks and jumpsuits, swingy tank dresses and graphic two-tone skirts, and loose blazers. the times he did venture into the form fitting, it wasn’t skin tight but body skimming: see through tanks, banded bottom cropped leggings, and a blouson top dress. and at night, there were slouchy suits, oversized double breasted jackets, and a slit-sleeve jumpsuit. perfect for the balmy new york nights, or indian summer days.
