s/s 2009 london: aquascutum.

collections Uncategorized

every once in a while, there is a collection that comes out of london that makes me take notice that their fashion week (or few days) is worth watching. like another british stalwart, aquascutum usually relies on the trench coat as a base for its looks, but this time the trench was softened with tiers of ruffles or loose dolman sleeves. the rest of the looks, based in whites and blues, was a gorgeous mix of intricate fabrics–like micropleats, degradé, lace, oriental embroidery and shiny shantung–used to spice up belted daycoats, trapeze dresses, shirtdresses, tunics, and shorts. it was an elegant collection with simple styling that shows that less really is more.
