miuccia prada loves to design collections that i like to call “ugly pretty.” she mixes prints and colors together that if she said them out loud, you’d call her crazy, but when you see it, somehow it all makes sense. the resort show started out in mostly blacks and the sherbet shades of the beach in drapey silhouettes like off the shoulder tops, deep v-neck colorblock shifts, edged button down shirts, and blouson-y tunics. but then there was a color and pattern explosion: first subtle print sarongs with contrasting print trim paired with v-necks, then louder print on prints where she resurrected some patterns from earlier collections (including one of my favorites). is she moving away from the more intellectual collections and back to the whimsy? guess we’ll have to wait until september…
