being backstage at the alice + olivia spring show was surreal yet amazing. it wasn’t exactly “backstage” — all the pre-show prep was done on the third floor of center 548 in chelsea while the show was held on the fourth. the beauty look, from stila, featured a very cool layered cat eye in black with white or periwinkle while the hair by l’oreal, was a low, teased ponytail with side swept bangs. models went through touch ups while waiting to go upstairs, and received a final look from stylist and marie claire editor zanna roberts rassi and designer stacey bendet.
the collection was an ode to the fifties done in a very modern way, with full skirts, bustiers, high waist trousers, party dresses, and pedal pushers, paired with chic accessories like kitten heels, gloves, and new a+o bags. it was sophisticated yet youthful, and like everything alice + olivia, fun.
