go/see/buy: marin country mart.

go/see/buy Uncategorized

on friday, my team at work took a trip to the marin country mart to get some inspiration for visual merchandising, props, and more. i had never been there before (the team behind the marin version also have “country marts” in brentwood and montecito) and the atmosphere reads like an upscale main street in a quaint new england town. the open design mall has a post office, barber shop, shoe repair, gym, dry cleaners, and yoga studio in addition to some small retailers and high end food vendors.

there is pretty much something for everyone on the retail side: poppy (kids/baby), james perse, calypso, malia mills, roberta roller rabbit, space nk, plus two of my favorite local stores, unionmade and erica tanov, have beautiful outposts there. on the weekends, there’s even more to check out thanks to a farmers market, a petting zoo and arts for the kids plus live music every saturday and off the grid food trucks (and more music) every sunday. new places are opening soon: diesel book store, a day spa, and an outpost of farmshop from thomas keller’s right hand man. whether it’s part of a day out with girlfriends or for some shopping that’s different from what’s at your local mall, the marin country mart is definitely worth the trip.
