s/s 2008 paris: lanvin.

collections Uncategorized

in a season where i’ve been feeling a sense of sameness, there was something about the lanvin collection that felt new. maybe it was the floaty long dresses, maybe it was the color palette, which went from navy, olive, cream, grey and black to gorgeous jewel tones of sapphire, magenta, yellow, dark teal, and emerald. maybe it was the fact that i wanted everything i saw on the runway, and isn’t that what fashion is supposed to do?

the long floaty pieces were just gorgeous…dresses with shoulder ruching, asymetrical hems, and ruffled edges, one shoulder and strapless gowns with a touch of madame grés pleating. all fit for breezy nights in paris or a red carpet in l.a.

other looks included belted tunic shirts, loose cropped pants, silk high waist skirts, soft trenches, fringed “flapper” dresses, cinched shirtdresses, silk wraps, ruffled blouses,

the eveningwear was a satin-y and feathered affair: silk sheaths with feathered necks or tiered ruffles, studded bodice dresses, belted versions with ruffled sleeves, flat sequins, and one shoulder treatments. with all that flou, the accessories were definitely more hefty. shoes came in patent leather platform peep toe pumps, nude patent band strap sandals, or croc platform sandals with bronze hardware, and belts were brown leather, bronze metal, or cotton webbed.
