the walter presentation was held at the empire hotel rooftop bar & lounge (across the street from lincoln center). creative director walter baker mingled around, checking in with guests and celebs (like rhony’s ramona) to see what they thought of the collection while models stood on wooden platforms for a while, then were rotated out into new outfits. the setting may not have been ideal (it was pretty crowded with partygoers), but the clothes had a cool, urban vibe that works for 9 to 5 and beyond. the palette was mostly neutral with pops of burgundy and mustard, and he explored colorblocking (either in the true sense or via texture) in many pieces, like one of my favorites, a leather and chiffon pleated skirt.
