fall/winter 2014 new york: j. crew

#NYFW collections Uncategorized

remember back in july when mickey drexler of j. crew stated to a former customer that the styling in some of the brand’s recent catalogs had “strayed too far” from the brand’s core? well after a fairly mellow spring collection, the layering of color, print, pattern, and texture was back for fall.  my favorite looks all had the newest pant silhouette: a wide leg cropped pant. a tweed pair was paired with an orange neoprene sweatshirt and matching topcoat, while one in harris tweed was topped with a fringed sequin top, menswear silk scarf, and a quilted bright blue bomber jacket. finally there was a peacock blue cuffed pair worn with a wool varsity jacket, or a bronze sequin pair partnered with a blue oversized shaker sweater and a coated stripe fringed scarf.

accessories were amazing as well, as the sophia webster collaboration will continue, and there were other fun pieces, like long colorblock fur scarves (a la prada spring 2011) and clutches.
