fall/winter 2013 new york: proenza schouler.

#NYFW collections Uncategorized

remember this proenza schouler gem of a collection? the one that i am still pouring over ebay, yoox, and consignment shops to find pieces from? at the time, jack mccollough said, “we wanted it to be a little more polished,” talking about moving away from their usual downtown aesthestic. it seems that mccollough and his partner lazaro hernandez move in cycles, as that urge to skew back uptown is back again. instead of tweeds of neon, it’s those woven in leather. instead of shibori dyed dresses, it was shifts made with actual chains. rather than the traditional take on jacket silhouettes, they experimented with softer, more voluminous shapes, a la cristobal balenciaga. gladiator boots and sporty bags were too masculine this time, so the duo opted for pumps with kitten heels, floral laser cut details, or leather bows, and clutches in simple leather or the same tweed from the jackets.

i’d love to be a lady that lunches in proenza schouler.
