speculation is running rampant that nina garcia, fashion director at elle magazine, is out. wwd reported today that a statement was forthcoming from hachette filipacchi today, but none came. garcia’s role as judge on project runway (which is moving to lifetime) hinges on her being employed by the magazine. she’s been offered the role of editor-at-large (similar to andré leon talley at vogue), but no word on whether or not she will accept.
it’s been reported that garcia clashed with joe zee, elle’s creative director and was upset over other departures at elle, including style director isabel dupré and former editor-at-large carlyne cerf de dudzeele (not to mention the reduced role of giles bensimon). it’s a shame what happening over at elle, because i feel like the mag is getting better…the zee factor is improving things. but i wonder if it’s the zee factor that’s causing this mass exodus. time will tell, i guess…
