editorial focus: always a lady.

back when carine roitfeld was editor-in-chief of vogue paris, one of my favorite editorals she used to do was an homage to a season: a diverse group of models each wearing one designer. she mixed up black and white with color, threw in stellar styling (usually by roitfeld herself), hair, and makeup and you have a perfect capsule of spring or fall. the u.s. vogue january issue featured a smaller take on this idea, photographed by david sims, who did two such features in the roitfeld era. styled by grace coddington and featuring a cast of fresh (nyasha matonhodze, edie campbell, aymeline valade) and seasoned (stella tennant, caroline trentini, karlie kloss, isabeli fontana) faces, the images show off not only the uniqueness of the clothes but the individuality of each girl. gorgeous, uncomplicated images…a perfect way to start off the new year.
