currently coveting: nellie partow.

collections currently coveting personal shopper Uncategorized

a few weeks ago, i received an email from elizabeth charles, one of my favorite boutiques in my neighborhood, and it featured a designer i hadn’t heard of, nellie partow. the images of her new collection were right up my alley, so i instantly googled her to learn more. turns out partow, who grew up in los angeles, studied at san francisco state before moving to new york to attend parsons, and is a former boxing champion. she worked for donna karan, calvin klein, and john varvatos before launching her namesake line in 2008 (no wonder i love her clean aesthetic).

in an interview with elle, she said “the aesthetic of the brand is effortless, chic and minimal, with great attention to detail and craftsmanship,” and i totally agree. the collection is full of sleek pieces with cool details, like a silk cabled open cardigan, flyaway collar blazers, a puckered silk draped dress, and flared leg trousers. she favors a more neutral palette (khaki, black, grey, cream) with hits of brights, and the silhouettes are easy yet still flatter a woman’s body. i’m loving just about everything here…and can’t wait to see more of this talented designer.

nellie partow (twitter / facebook) is available in san francisco at elizabeth charles (online and in pacific heights) and dish (hayes valley) and online at shopbop
