cover roundup

Uncategorized

after march’s mags, april is always a bit of a letdown. here’s my quick synopsis of who showed up where and interesting eds along the way.

demi moore is on the cover of bazaar, promoting her movie flawless (with michael caine). after her amazing turn on v earlier this year, this feels lackluster at best. the most interesting thing is the interview, which is not just with her, but with husband ashton kutcher and daughters rumer, scout and tallulah. also inside is an article/feature with john galliano and a cool couture ed shot by karl lagerfeld (with model doutzen kroes).

elle has newly minted vegan designer natalie portman, wearing mostly cheap chic (gap, h&m, dkny mixed with some balenciaga). inside she talks about the other boleyn girl and her political views (hilary, then obama and mccain). again, not the most inspired shoot after her pooch and boobs w cover, but the contents are stellar. there’s an beautiful ed with michelle williams (shot by tom munro) which was supposed to be the cover story until williams bowed out after the death of heath ledger. also inside is an interview with oscar de la renta from his dominician republic home, jean-baptiste mondino shoots dj lizzy trullie in mostly black and white (save her red hair), and elle shops the office, with iconic jackets, slouchy suits, and all the accessories to tie your work look together.

finally on allure, we get the airbrushed-within-an-inch-of-her-life mariah carey turns up, in a year when their covers are going from ok to bad to worse. one good thing in this issue: an ed with chanel iman. get this girl an only girl vogue piece already!
