khakis 2.0.

the new look wear anywhere

the staple from the 80's is back and i'm here for it...

remember khakis? or should i say, remember when khakis were a thing? gap had some amazing commercials back in the late 90s all about the original workwear fabric turned business casual staple (even sarah jessica parker got in on the action). and then as fashion does, khakis were out and denim in all colors, rises, and leg shapes were in. i’ll admit i probably have way too many pairs of jeans and it’s what i tend to reach for when i don’t know what else to wear. but recently i’ve even been feeling jean fatigue.

over on pinterest, i was discovering that khakis were having a new fashion moment, and they didn’t have to equal boring. khakis could be styled in a similar way to denim and look just as chic. what i also found is that finding a great pair of khakis can be just as hard as finding a good pair of jeans. i’ve got a pair of gap girlfriend chinos (as seen here and here), but i wanted something with more of a trouser silhouette with a higher waist. i found these via a clothing swap and and i’m digging them. crisp but rumpled at the same time in the perfect seasonless shade and just-wide-enough leg.

i’ve rounded up some khakis from around the interwebs at various price points, but don’t discount your local resale shop (like crossroads or goodwill) to find a perfectly worn in pair.
