it’s been a while since i talked about ad campaigns on the blog; i think it’s because deep down, not that many have been truly inspiring to me. either it’s the same season after season (hello céline and michael kors) or it’s too wack-a-doodle of a concept. enter this campaign for protagonist, that seems almost plucked from the nineties, a throwback to the steven meisel-lensed campaigns featuring amber valletta or carolyn murphy. it helps that designer kate weldelborn cast another nineties super guinevere van seenus in the starring role. it also helps to have vanessa traina snow (who to me is a modern reincarnation of carolyn bessette kennedy and partner in the line with kate’s sister morgan) doing the styling. the images are serene, beautiful, sensual—a perfect complement to the clothes.
also check out tommy ton’s photos from the fall presentation…equally beautiful.
