i remember when i was in high school, the coolest jacket you could have (besides a vintage one from i. goldberg, the army/navy store in philadelphia) was a varsity jacket. i was lucky enough to have earned one in track, and wore it to school and out with my friends with pride—and with my pegged jeans and suede penny loafers. today’s version of the bomber jacket is decidedly more grown up, with options like sequins, florals and plaids, and fabrics such as leather, silk, and lace. which means it will look equally good with a pencil skirt or skinny trousers or even a cocktail dress as it will with your saturday wear. my favorite bomber is this tapesty one from j.crew, but here are some other options. are you on board with bombers?
