the new look: not so basic.

the new look Uncategorized

taking my new jeans out for a spin by pairing them with two pieces everyone should have in their wardrobe: an oversized blazer (oversized based on what that means to you…could be slightly so or from the men’s department) and a luxe tee. i’m doing it the hi-lo low way, but not the way most would think. this blazer was unearthed in forever 21 a year or so ago (the cost per wear on the jacket and these hoops is mind-blowingly low, like half pennies). and the tee is from one of the row’s earliest collections; bought at the grocery store. i was definitely skeptical about a “luxe” t-shirt line (seeing as most of mine had been from the gap), but after feeling the modal/cashmere blend and seeing the details, i was sold. $175 was a lot to pay for a tee (the price has since risen), but i’ve made that money back tenfold considering how much i’ve worn the grey and the black one i also have (that’s slightly sheer, perfect for evening). if you’re looking for a luxe tee, it’s not about the price, it’s about the details and material—it should be drapey and have a nice hand-feel (code for soft fabric), and a more feminine neckline. basic doesn’t have to be so…basic.
