the new look: frill go round.

the new look Uncategorized

when thinking about my style, i tend to buy “high” in certain pieces, like blazers, shoes, and bags because they are wardrobe builders and “low” for more trendy items. but every now and then, something that might seem trendy to some can be a staple for you. i bought this peplum top from the row back in 2012, when it seemed peplums were in overload. at the time, i loved how structured this one was, along with the thin navy stripes and cream ground that meant i could wear it all year. even though it was almost $400, it was a solid investment as i’m still wearing it two years later. i’ve found that the thicker cotton construction and bracelet-length sleeves are super flattering on me, hence it’s still in rotation even as the trend has waned. do you have a piece in your wardrobe that could be considered trendy that happens to really work for your body type?

the row top (old, love this st. john one or shop more striped peplums below), zara skirt (similar here and here), alexander wang pumps, marc jacobs bag, linda farrow x alexander wang sunglasses (black metal sold out; also available in matte silver, matte gold, and black plastic), bauble bar earrings, giles and brother ring, hermés bracelet
