after it was announced that mary-kate and ashley olsen were going to be presenting the row’s spring collection in paris rather than new york, i was a bit skeptical about the move. yes the row is a no-frills brand that feels quite european, but since this was only their second runway show, to move to paris seemed a bit ambitious. the 15-look show was concise, well put together and felt right at home among the other collections presented this week. there were slim pantsuits with satin lapel jackets, deep v-neck jumpsuits, close-to-the-body cashmere sweaters, and easy floor length skirts, made more sophisticated with the addition of manolo blahnik-designed slides. i appreciate them going slowly with the row, making thoughtful changes in terms of silhouette and adding accessories. this small collection is another big step forward for the brand.
