s/s 2011 new york: rachel roy.

collections Uncategorized

rachel roy is a designer never known to shy away from color, and although this collection was no exception, she also played with neutral tones that were made more interesting through beading and shimmer. bright, tropical colors punctuated the first part of the presentation: a side ruched teal gown, ankle drawstring pleated pants in the same hue, silk cobalt blazers and fine gauge polo sweaters, raspberry flat front satin shorts. mixed in were neutral pieces like khaki pencil skirts, black bustiers (worn over a poplin floral button down), bouclé cardigans, and then the whole show moved into more minimalist territory. heavy geometric beading, heather grey sparkle “sweatshirts,” and a navy stripe ruched back trumpet skirt provided perfect options for evening. as roy herself has become a fixture on best-dressed lists and has become one of those women that other women want to be like, she has created a collection that is a true reflection of herself.
