s/s 2011 new york: ports 1961.

collections Uncategorized

ports 1961, which had been headed by the past five years by tia cibani, was now being designed by her older sister fiona. and even with a new leader at the helm, the show as always was full of beautiful and feminine clothes. with the desert of tunisia as an inspiration, the collection was light, easy and sensual. day looks were dominated by knee length dresses, belted trenches, trousers that were slim and high waisted or loose and slouchy, and ribbed jackets. at night, silk charmeuse was dominant with off the shoulder tops, breezy tunics, and knotted cocktail dresses and gowns. i loved the palette of gold, ivory, black with punches of cornflower, emerald and purple. my favorite piece: a rose gold metallic draped gown with a knotted waist (middle, below)…it summed up everything i loved about this collection.
