s/s 2008 nyc: bcbg.

collections Uncategorized

the bcbg collection was a study in lightness, featuring fabrics like silk faille and colored chiffons layered over pencil skirts, ruched bustiers, bubble hem minis and tank dresses. one thing i did notice: this collection had no pants, not even a pair of shorts. i personally love that, because i don’t look good in shorts (unless they’re bermudas), and skirts can easily transform from day to night. the silhouettes ranged from short to tight to slim and knee length to flowy.

other pieces included string belted dip dyed skirt suits, taffeta collarless trenches, tie front dresses, and sheer sleeve cropped jackets. the collection felt a bit like a mix of vera wang, prada and miu miu, especially considering the accessories: nubuck frame bags with silver metal edges, patent leather shoes with elastic vamps, and knotted leather belts. my favorite looks: a marigold organza dress with white straps and hem, and a multilayered minidress on freya in black pleated chiffon, cream silk and lace.
