spring 2006 milan: versace and miu miu.

collections Uncategorized

donatella versace is experiencing a rebirth. fresh off her stint in rehab, she produced a f/w collection that was more restrained and ladylike. with her spring collection, she continued to bring the house back to its storied past. for day, she sent out lean suits with skinny pants, knee length print jersey dresses, and cute halter/shorts combos in shades of lemony yellow, beige, cream, navy and tan. at night, instead of the typical overly opulent dresses, donatella showed gorgeous ombre silk chiffon numbers that flowed from the body. of course there was cleavage, but more tasteful, not slutty.

miu miu’s spring collection was more of what miuccia prada showed for the main collection, but with a younger, fresher take. she continued exploring with shapes that fell away from the body: more voluminous sleeves and skirts, starburst print mini dresses, and washed linen pieces with chunky black trim. the highlight of the collection, however, was the shoes: psychedelic print platforms and ankle straps, patent leather platforms on bone soles, and sequined sandals.
