the balenciaga show yesterday was IT for f/w 05. nicolas ghesquiere got everything right in his presentation. just the right amount of fur (save raquel’s opening exit), the right amount of black, throw in some denim (tight at the top, cuffed and flared at the bottom), the right amount of pretty dresses (see above), add some flowy chiffon skirts with military detailing and some fantabulous coats (does anyone do coats better than him??) and you’ve got the best collection of the season.
and he brought malgosia bela back to the runway!!
john galliano also turned out a winner for christian dior, continuing the thoroughly wearable clothes he started with the s/s haute couture presentation. no kabuki makeup, huge platforms or theatrics this time around, just very pretty clothes, inspired by Edie Sedgwick and 60s british dressing.
