oh wait a minute, this isn’t michael kors. but there’s alot of tweed in coats, jodhpurs, and bermuda shorts; leather bomber jackets with fur collars, shawl collar knit sweaters, pencil skirts in solids, herringbone and plaid, and shirtdresses.
the gucci woman, it seems, is undergoing another transformation under frida giannini. she’s gone from 40s floral to 70s disco to 60s folklore. and now, with the help of former chloe designer yvan mispleare, she’s back to 40s floral with a dash of aristocracy. the star pieces in this collection are the florals, which show up on blouses, shirtdresses and sweaterdresses, with both a cream and a black background. it goes back to the successful florals she did for s/s 06. the evening gowns were also nice, in asymmetrical neckline versions, short velvet shifts, empire waist or keyhole neck jersey, or sleeveless floral and 40s style natural waist versions with side beading.
and giannini has undoubtedly created the next gucci “it” bag: a duffle in the style of the boston bag. the bag had double straps and a medallion closure, and came in different incarnations: velvet with patent leather trim, allover croc, and a vintage rectangle print with leather trim. the footwear is also bound to be a hit: boots and booties with bridle trim, mary janes, lace up oxfords, all on a platform sole.
