brian atwood launched his eponymous label in 2001 (before he which he was head of accessories design at versus, discovered by gianni versace himself), and since then, he’s won the cfda swarovski award for best accessory designer and was creative director at bally. his line has been a staple of shoe lovers and celebs alike. last fall, he started b brian atwood, a lower priced line with the same details as the main line, but retailing for much less ($200-$500 for the b line, compared to $500-$1000 for the main line). so far b was the #1 new contemporary footwear brand at nordstrom, neiman marcus, saks fifth avenue, and bloomingdale’s and wwd named it footwear launch of the year.
last thursday, i went to saks in the city to check out the new fall collection at a trunkshow hosted by ahn from 9to5chic. many of the fall shoes have funky details, like studs or crystals on the back or underside of the heel, snakeskin trim on a slim platform, or patent scrollwork on a bootie. there’s also simplier styles, like a pointy toe snakeskin pump with a quilted insole (which are on my wishlist) or something for the more adventurous, like a suede t-strap sandal with ombré swarovski crystals. i’m also excited to see how the line develops further: jewelry and handbags will launch later this year, with sunglasses and clothing coming next year. definitely stop by saks in san francisco or check out the b collection online.
