karl lagerfeld was clearly in a boot mood, as every look he sent down the runway for chanel featured thigh high boots in either distressed denim or supple leather. on top, he piled on collarless jackets and tulip pleated skirts, flared hem dresses, minis with frayed hems and jeweled buttons and elaborate embroidery, and coats with bubble collars, for evening, there was alot more decoration, from appliques and stones, bows, and pearl trims.

christian lacroix is always about color, and this season was no different, although this time he tempered his color palette of turquoise, plum, and magenta with ivory, khaki, black and navy. he featured egg shaped coats, tapestry skirts, tiered chiffon layers, astrakhan capes, and intricate lace gowns.

over at jean-paul gaultier, he found inspiration in schiaparelli and dali, creating a whirlwind of patterned leggings, knit turtlenecks, fur-trimmed coats and skirts, velvet dresses with sheer panels, alligator corsets with chiffon skirts, and embroidered velvet jackets with silk palazzo pants.
