karen elson is back as ysl’s girl du jour. wwd is reporting that elson will be starring in the spring campaign, being shot by boys du jour mert and marcus. ysl’s stefano pilati has used juergen teller since coming on board is creative director.

doo ri chung (above right, with penelope cruz) was announced as the winner of the vogue/cfda fashion fund. she wins $200,000 to help develop her business. runners-up were kate and laura mulleavy of rodarte and thakoon panichgul, who received $50,000 each.

nicole richie has fired so-called hotshot celeb stylist rachel zoe. an insider at the richie camp said it was because she “wanted to surround herself with positive people and influences.” for her appearance at last night’s american music awards to introduce her dad lionel, richie enlisted another celeb stylist: cristina ehrlich, who has dressed jessica biel and penelope cruz. richie shined last night, and her new darker hair really looks lovely on her.

according to a report in wwd, olivier theyskens is in negotiations to become creative director at nina ricci. it had been hinted that theyskens would come on board after the departure of lars nilsson since ricci gm christophe hebre joined the firm in october from Rochas, where he had been instrumental in recruiting theyskens. nilsson left the house last week for “personal reasons,” and hinted at a job back in the u.s.

marie gray, former creative director at st. john, has returned to the company as a consultant after the departure of her successor, tim gardner. according to the l.a. times, st. john’s campaign to attract younger customers, including replacing gray in ad campaigns with gisele and angelina jolie, hasn’t worked out the way they planned.
