the new look

in my last post i mentioned doing a new feature with you look fab, and that i’ve definitely been embracing wearing more color this year. part of it is not being afraid of new and quirky color combos, things that on the surface don’t seem to go together. enter this chartreuse feather trim sweater and purple-but-not-purple midi skirt. i consider navy a neutral, but this skirt isn’t quite blue, it’s more purple with hints of brown and gray. both pieces were on my fall shopping list, and like other things i’ve bought this season, they have been quite versatile given their unique shades. chartreuse is one of my favorite colors (see here, here, and here) and feathers were a big trend this fall that will continue into the new year. and the skirt…well what can i say about tibi? along with proenza schouler, it’s a line that i would happily wear the rest of my life if i could. i follow founder amy smilovic on instagram, and she gives amazing advice on shopping, style, and running a small business. one of things she says about color is to either wear none or all, and i’ve been trying that out more and more. to this look, i added brown snakeskin boots and a cobalt clutch vs. black accessories. it’s a mix of textures of colors but somehow it all works.
