finally it’s (almost) fall! time for probably my favorite month of the year because…
one. it’s my birthday month! ready to kick up my heels with friends and family, and a mini-getaway later on.
two. and it’s the start of fashion week month. there’s no major designer/house shakeup’s this time around, but the collections from proenza schouler, marc jacobs, public school, j. crew, no. 21, balenciaga, dior, and vuitton are at the top of my viewing list.
three. to borrow from diana vreeland, “why don’t you…” put some vintage pins on a denim jacket or shirt, like helena. i’ve got a bunch collecting dust in a jewelry box.
four. one of the most anticipated beauty launches this year has been charlotte tilbury’s namesake line. tilbury has worked with mario testino, mert and marcus, tom ford, christopher bailey at burberry, and donna karan among others, so clearly she knows here stuff. two things i can’t wait to try: charlotte’s magic potion, a moisturizer based on one that she used to mix herself with anti-aging ingredients and plant extracts that transforms tired skin in an instant, and the matte revolution lipstick, which creates a luminous, matte lip that looks “lit from within.” the line is available starting today at beautylish, and in special kits at net-a-porter.
five. college football season has begun, which means college gameday is back!
six. the debut clothing and accessories collection from coach’s stuart vevers that i first spied back in february will be in stores this month. i’m excited to get a sneak peek at everything next week at a special preview event at the san francisco flagship.
seven. legendary bergdorf goodman personal shopper betty halbreich’s memoir, i’ll drink to that, will be out on september 4th, and i’m sure her adventures at the venerable shop are not to be missed.
eight. one of the first “grown up” fragrances i ever bought was narciso rodriguez’s for her. now he’s back with his new scent, narciso, that has notes of vetiver, cedarwood, amber, sparkling rose, and gardenia. it will be available in the u.s. later this month.
