burnished globes.

Uncategorized

i’m not a huge fan of best dressed lists; every person has their off-moment and the paparazzi is usually there to catch it and put your faux pas on the cover of every tabloid out there. last night was the golden globes, and i am a sucker for red-carpet events. the last few awards shows have produced very few winners and lots of so-so’s and the globes are continuing that trend. there were only a handful of women who, in my mind, took a risk and were a bit more adventurous in their choices, while most stuck to the tried and true formula of big gown and big hair or big gown and big jewels.

one of my standouts was jennifer lopez, glowing in a marchesa gown and jimmy choo heels. with the intricate detailing on her gown, she was wise to pull her hair away from her face.

naomi watts looked stunning in gucci…the color really stood out from all the whites and blacks. i also love her hair and makeup, soft and sophisticated.

reese witherspoon is someone who could have easily slipped into a black gown and into the background, especially considering her recent split from ryan phillipe. but instead reese shined in a gorgeous yellow short strapless dress, the red carpet debut by olivier theyskens for nina ricci. she wore fun christian louboutins with diamond clips and a stack of diamond & ruby bracelets from van cleef & arpels. well done!

honorable mentions go to rachel weisz, cate blanchett and emily blunt.
