happy monday! i’m here with something a little different, i was asked by sheela to part of the fab 40s monthly link up. every month a member of the group picks a theme, for example menswear, velvet, or leopard, and the members post new looks that are based on this theme. this month’s theme was culottes, which as a person that’s 5’5″ on a good day, can be a bit tricky. but that also doesn’t mean i shy away from them (see here and here). the good thing about culottes is that they come in different shapes and lengths—so you can find the perfect pair for your height and shape. this pair from who what wear collection is more like a wide leg trouser, so that’s how i treated them while also adding a bit of whimsy. i was browsing at nordstrom last week and found this fun chambray shirt from proenza schouler’s pswl line (the dots are actually manhole covers) that i knew i’d get a ton of wear out of. the other pieces are ones i’ve had in my closet: red block heel sandals and a ring handle bag.

here’s how the other women styled culottes for the challenge…i love how each brought a bit of their personality and style to the look, and showed culottes work in different fabrics (denim, etc) or shoe choices (ann rocking my favorite black and white vans to booties to pumps). do you have a favorite look? how do you style culottes?
