s/s 2012 paris: lanvin.

collections Uncategorized

if there is one constant in the ever-evolving world of fashion (until another alber elbaz leaving rumour starts), it’s that lanvin will be one of the collections that is top of mind. just when you think the house is getting stale or that it’s the same old thing, elbaz comes up with a new way for women to dress now. the collection reminded me of the eighties alpha-female. but this isn’t sigourney weaver in working girl, dressing how a man wants to see a woman dress. it’s all woman–sleek pencil skirts, strong shoulder tops, satin lapel vests, and slim trousers. and when she goes out at night, she wants softness, sparkle and shine, in the form of citrus-hued satins, snake print separates, and micropleated chiffon. the lanvin woman is strong, sexy, and bold but not cold or harsh. it’s what i see when i think of the 21st century woman.
