s/s 2009 new york: isaac mizrahi.

the theme of isaac mizrahi‘s spring show was “swarm,” but to me, it was much too beautiful to be seen as something so ominous. he used candy-like colors (mint, lemon, peach, lilac), and intricate textures like you would find on insect wings to elevate the designs from the typical to the extraordinary. the looks included elbow sleeve sheaths with lace cutouts, asymetrical hem dresses, slouchy cuffed paperbag waist pants, laser cut suede jackets, hammered silk belted coatdresses, and elegant day suits. for evening, there were long column gowns with multicolor sequins, a modern tux with tailed jacket and cigarette pants, and a “snow white” ball gown in a fine spiderweb print.
