jennifer lopez is on the cover of the fashion rocks supplement that will be packaged with seventeen condé nast titles next month. the singer slash actress slash designer is scheduled to perform along with usher, fergie, fall out boy and carrie underwood. the event, hosted by jeremy piven, will be held september 6 at radio city, right smack in the middle of s/s fashion week. lopez will be quite the busy bee, as she has a movie coming out, will be showing her contemporary just sweet line at fashion week and just announced a tour with hubby marc anthony.

stuart vevers, the creative director of mulberry, has been named the new head designer at loewe. he replaces jose enrique ona selfa. ona selfa’s last show for the house will be in october. pierre-yves roussel, ceo of lvmh’s fashion division said the goal was to grow loewe’s, specifically it’s handbags. vevers previously worked for lvmh’s vuitton and givenchy before going to mulberry, and has recently done collaborations with luella bartney and house of holland.

gap finally has a new ceo, and it’s not a known name. glenn murphy was formerly ceo of canada’s shoppers drug mart and led the company to $8 billion in revenues. yet again, they’ve gone with someone with no fashion experience, but hopefully bringing back gary muto and bringing in patrick robinson will help get the chain back on track.

finally, kate and andy spade announced they are stepping down from their namesake brands. they want to spend more time with their daughter, now 2. both will remain on the board of directors, and andy spade will stay on through the end of 2007 working on the bote the kate spade and jack spade ad campaigns and in store displays.
