september 2006 magazines, part 1.

Uncategorized

september is the fashion world’s biggest month in terms of pages and advertising. so far, i’ve gotten to scope out a bunch of the biggest mags out there.

us vanity fair’s style issue is its first with michael roberts in place as the magazine’s new fashion editor. along with the internatinal best dressed list, there is an editorial on the fabulous kate moss, a piece on sofia coppola, and one with films and the collections that were inspired by them. a great beginning for mr. roberts…i look forward to more fashion coverage.

w has christina ricci on the cover, promoting her “controversal” movie, penelope, also starring reese witherspoon. in the movie, ricci is trapped by a family curse (she has a pig nose) and sets out to find love and discover her true self. the issue includes an editorial with kate moss (of course!) shot by bruce weber, and a juergen teller-helmed ed featuring supermodels (including christie brinkley, naomi campbell, shalom, cindy crawford, cheryl tiegs, pat cleveland and more. unfortunately, he made all of the models look horribly old (even christy turlington!) style.com has the entire ed up.

lucky, in keeping with their tradition of featuring non-traditional celebrities on its covers, has eva mendes. there’s a great editorial on the eight pieces you need to buy this fall (hint: one of them is a loose dress), an ed on the key trends of the season, plus their wonderful shoe guide.

finally uk vogue has kate moss on the cover for the third time in a year (that has to be a record!) caroline trentini, gemma (in a great ed by nick knight) and kate shot by craig mcdean. check out a review of the issue plus scans at thefashionspot.

stay tuned for my reviews of us vogue (kirsten dunst) and us bazaar (rumoured to be denise richards), plus part 2 of the september 2006 mags…
