resort 07.08, part 3.

collections Uncategorized

i was getting a little antsy waiting for these final two resort collections, and both give you a bit of intrigue as to what will be appearing on the runways in september & october.

at balenciaga, nicolas ghesquiere said goodbye to the future (although the fabrics looked very space aged) and hello to the past in a sixties and seventies inspired collection. the pieces included silk striped wrap dresses, gabardine vests with high waist flared pants and button pocket shorts, pop art floral minis, and checked three piece suits.

even the shoes were fierce, as ghesquiere used fake hair to create a tassel on a 4″ heel.

over at marc jacobs, the seventies, one of marc’s favorite decades (and also an inspiration for the f/w collection) was a starting point, where the looks favored high waisted slim pants, denim safari jackets, bouclé coats, bright silk trenchcoats, full pleated shorts and polkadot silk tunics and belted shifts. the shine continued into the evening, where dresses and gowns came in long, one shoulder version with pleating or shorter colorblocked chiffon with attached scarves.
