pre-fall 2009: oscar de la renta.

collections Uncategorized

oscar de la renta put on a full-on runway show for his pre-fall collection, a nice thing to see in this down economy. the looks were full of separates: leather jackets, tie neck tunic sweaters, flowy trousers, full a-line skirts, and charmeuse drape front blouses. what i found interesting is that he revisited some of the trends that emerged last fall (sweater dressing, renewed focus on the waist, winter florals), with wrapped bodice day dresses, wide metallic belts, and chunky short cardigans. at night, there was a nice mix of the subdued (metallic wrap sweaters with sharkskin pants, tasteful one shoulder cocktail dresses) and the bold (nude and tweed mermaid gown, a feathered hem skirt atop a bustier).
