paco rabanne, owned by Spain’s Puig Group, has ceased rtw shipments as it seeks to close down its high-cost paris operations, which employ some 40 people. rabanne is said to be considering several options, including a manufacturing partnership for fashion.
patrick robinson, brought in to reenergize the house in 2004, is still working at Puig’s 26th Street offices in manhattan and is expected to remain at the design helm.
many thought robinson’s aethestic didn’t mesh with the heritage of rabanne, but i really liked some of the pieces in the f/w collection:
robinson, formerly of giorgio armani, perry ellis, and anne klein has a wonderful aesthetic…hopefully his talents will not go unnoticed…
