new doors: proenza schouler on madison.

new doors Uncategorized

it’s hard to believe that proenza schouler, the line created when parsons fashion students jack mccollough and lazaro hernandez teamed up for their senior thesis that was bought by barneys, has been around for ten years. in that time, the two have won a the inaugural cfda/vogue fashion fund award, two cfda womenswear of the year awards, a groundbreaking collaboration with target, and a highly covetable handbag line. now this fall, the duo is gearing up for two big launches. the first is their boutique at 822 madison (near 69th), which opens on friday. the 2,000 square foot two-story space was designed by architect david adjaye, whom the two met on a road trip in marfa, texas. inside will be the latest ready-to-wear and accessories, plus exclusive pieces. i can’t wait to check out the store when i’m in nyc come september.

and the second big thing? a denim line, previewed during the resort shows, which includes four pieces (and a denim jacket) and will retail from $255-$495. their last foray into denim, the fall 2010 scribble pattern skinnies done with j.brand, sold out in a heartbeat.
