s/s 2011 new york: cynthia rowley.

collections Uncategorized

cynthia rowley makes fun, flirty girls for girls young and old and this season was no different. the collection started with a section of smart short sleeve sweaters, flared trousers, long sleeve shirts, and shift dresses, some with circle cutouts, others with wide stripes and see through panels. it was sexy without screaming sex, and had a 50s/60s mod housewife slant. while the first half of the show had a candy-colored palette, the second half of the show, where she experimented with cabochons, stayed in neutral tones of white, black, olive, slate blue and grey. the checked short suit and high waist flared pant would be perfect for the office or a date night. for cocktails, rowley showed a variety of dresses: a bubble hem shift, plunging v-neck with tiered hem (both with cutouts), but my standout look was the charcoal cabochon sleeveless top with a tiered midi length chiffon skirt with circle cutouts. the top would work with jeans, slouchy trousers or rolled up cargos, and the skirt with a sequin tank or black tee.
