good news and bad news.

Uncategorized

drew barrymore is the kind of “everygirl” that editors and readers alike love. a few months ago, she was on a flurry of magazines to promote lucky you with eric bana (did this movie ever come out??) now she’s back, promoting music and lyrics, also starring hugh grant. the newsstand cover is not that nice…drew is already not what some would call “normal actress size” and the angle which she is shot is not very flattering to her. she can easily look better (see march 2006 vogue).

the subscribers cover, however, is absolutely gorgeous and has to be one of the most interesting art directing i’ve seen on a u.s. magazine cover in a long time. but then scanning the contents of this issue, i know i’m going to be disappointed:

“what to wear now” by terry tsolis; model: caroline trentini
“coming up roses” by solve sundsbo; model: jessica stam
“most wanted” by richard burbridge (accessories ed); model: caroline winberg
“how to wear pants” by nathaniel goldberg; model: lily donaldson

are there no brunette models out there? freja, irina, hilary rhoda anyone? is this thing on? caroline trentini AGAIN??? is she blackmailing anna wintour and glenda bailey? i can name about 12 models off the top of my head that i’d rather see in an ed in either mag before i could hit c.t. it’s too bad that american fashion magazines feel the need to dumb it down so much. *sigh*
